Requirements of the Sr Category Specialist:
- 5 years of purchasing, sourcing, or procurement analytics experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field preferred
- Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management experience
- Solid understanding of procurement policies, purchasing procedures, and category strategy execution
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills with strong data analysis capability
- Strong communication and cross-functional relationship-building abilities
- Experience supporting protein, food, ingredient, or other direct material categories preferred
- Ability to identify cost savings, manage supplier performance, and support change initiatives
- Lead sourcing and purchasing activities across assigned protein-related categories
- Analyze spend trends and identify strategic sourcing opportunities that improve cost structure
- Negotiate pricing and manage supplier agreements to maximize overall value
- Build strong partnerships with suppliers, brokers, and internal stakeholders
- Drive cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives tied to category performance
- Monitor supplier KPIs and support corrective action efforts when needed
- Process internal requisitions and support day-to-day procurement execution
- Assist with cross-functional initiatives and help mentor junior staff
- Support as needed
