Description
This position is responsible for locating water and sewer lines and other system components.
- Receives and processes locate request; closes work orders in GA 811 database.
- Uses electronic detection device to identify the location of water and sewer facilities.
- Assists contractors in locating water and sewer mains and valves.
- Responds to after-hours emergency requests.
- Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain records of daily locates.
- Performs excavations as needed; lifts manhole covers.
- Performs related duties.
- Knowledge of underground utility locating principles and practices.
- Knowledge of map reading principles.
- Knowledge of GA 811 policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of area streets and roads.
- Skill in interpreting engineering reports, maps, and construction drawings.
- Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in the preparation of reports.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
$19.05/hour
