MACHINE OPERATOR - 2ND SHIFT

JOB SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision, working from blueprints, sketches, verbal and/or written specifications, operates manual or numerically controlled machine tools to perform standard sequences of operations.   Sets up manual machines where speeds feeds and sequence of tooling operations are ordinarily prescribed.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Sets up manual machines where speeds feeds and sequence of tooling operations are ordinarily prescribed
• Operates numerically controlled machines where programs are proved.
• Sets up and operates other manual machines in the work area and maintains tolerances by adjusting as necessary. 
• Is responsible for inspecting the work to ensure it meets basic quality requirements.
• Can perform detailed sub-assembly functions for certain products. 
• Operates automatic welding equipment.
• Uses required shop measuring devices.
• Sharpens drill tools on grinding wheel as necessary.
• Maintains good housekeeping in work area.
• May be required to perform other duties as directed by supervision.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 5-7 years’ experience as a general machine shop operator and demonstrated skills.
• Familiar with Machine Shop procedures, special processes, and tooling. 

 REQUISITE SKILLS REQUIRED

• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.  
• All work is performed under the minimum supervision of the Manager and/or Supervisor, as required. 

EQUIPIMENT/MACHINERY USED

• Knowledge of Machining or Manufacturing operations is beneficial.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lifting up to 50lbs regularly, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing.
