About The Opportunity
Directs, coordinates, and leads the work of technical staff (medical technologists and lab assistants) in a specialty area of the laboratory to ensure completion of testing and compliance with accrediting and inspection agencies' requirements.
What You Will Do
- Assists in developing, recommending, and coordinating the implementation of new procedures and instrumentation.
- Recognizes and resolves unusual conditions, test results, and procedures. Resolves problems encountered by testing personnel.
- Reviews work of staff upon completion for adherence to guidelines and standards.
- Performs CLIA moderate and high complexity lab testing.
- Acts as general supervisor in absence of lab director.
- Participates on committees and special projects as needed. Collects, tabulates, interprets data; writes reports for committees and projects.
- Assists in the interviewing and selecting of staff. Trains (acts as educator) on proper techniques/procedures and assesses competency.
- Develops and implements QA and QI programs within section.
- Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
- Must be HIPAA compliant.
Experience
What you will need:
- 4 years in a high complexity CLIA lab.
- Experience in healthcare required.
- N/A
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Certified Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists required
