Pay Range: 100-135k, depending on experience
Job Description:
As an experienced mechanical engineer at VPE Thermal, your primary role will revolve around taking high-level engineering designs from a senior engineer after a customer PO has been issued and produce the documentation required to convert into hardware. You will oversee the work of draftsmen and be responsible for reviewing and approving their work with detailed understanding of the ASME BPVC, customer design specifications, and manufacturing processes. You will be required to interface with procurement to disseminate BOMs for establishing project budgets and approving purchase orders from engineering requirement perspective. You will be responsible for meeting with production to issue the design package for manufacturing and collaborating on build sequence and traveler generation. Your engineering knowledge of the product will be critical to solving problems encountered during production on the shop floor to keep projects moving forward including NC closure, repair/rework instructions, and identifying root cause. On any day you may be asked to generate detailed engineering drawings, perform code calculations, document design information in a report, develop a manufacturing plan, procure items in a bill of materials, contract work with an outside shop, or anything in between.
Required Experience:
- More than four years working in high paced manufacturing environment
- Course work in solid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
- Computer aided design (CAD) from construction of a 3D model to detailed engineering drawings
- Document manufacturing plans, work instructions, design information, and research findings
- Basic project management including quoting, scheduling, budgeting, and execution
- Interpret and deliver products adhering to customer design specifications
- Manufacturing processes including cutting, milling, forming, and welding of stainless steel
- Basic project management including quoting, scheduling, budgeting, and execution
Desired Experience:
- Ability to construct FEA models and interpret results to make design decisions
- Prior work experience in ISO/AS9100 environment
- Proven track record of interfacing customers to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Identify and diagnose issues with root cause analysis
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited four-year college or university
Master’s degree with advanced coursework and/or research in solid mechanics and heat transfer highly desired
Prior work using codes such as ASME BPVC, B31.3, B31.1, B16.5, B16.9

Salary : $100,000 - $135,000
