Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant to support the Assistant Controller with the company's month-end and year-end closing processes, as well as the annual audit. This position will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, preparing account reconciliations, recording journal entries, and providing timely financial information.

The Accountant will also provide backup support for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions to ensure continuity of the department's daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Assistant Controller with all aspects of the monthly and year-end financial close process.
• Prepare and post recurring, accrual, reclassification, and adjusting journal entries.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, accruals, and other general ledger accounts.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including assisting with processing, reconciliations, research, and issue resolution as needed.
• Prepare reports and schedules requested by the Assistant Controller and management.
• Assist with the annual financial statement audit, including gathering supporting documentation, preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor requests, and researching audit questions.
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
• Evaluate current accounting workflows and help identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, strengthen internal controls, and recommend efficiencies.
• Support the Assistant Controller with special accounting projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Understanding of GAAP and basic financial accounting principles.
• Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict month-end and year-end deadlines.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Assistant Controller and accounting team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting a month-end or year-end close.
• Experience preparing journal entries.
• Experience assisting with an annual financial statement audit.
• Experience providing backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Experience with SAP or other cloud-based accounting system.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel.
