Senior Revenue Accountant

ASC 606 | Public Accounting | CPA Preferred

We are partnering with a growing software company who is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to join their accounting team. This role will play a key part in the order-to-cash process, helping ensure accurate and compliant revenue recognition while supporting the continued growth of the business. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of ASC 606, experience in a SaaS or recurring revenue environment, and the ability to partner effectively across Finance, Revenue Operations, Sales, and other business functions.

Responsibilities

• Review customer contracts and evaluate revenue recognition implications under ASC 606.
• Manage revenue accounting activities, including deferred revenue, contract assets, and related account reconciliations.
• Perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and revenue reporting.
• Prepare and maintain revenue schedules and support financial statement disclosures.
• Research and document technical accounting positions related to revenue recognition, contract modifications, variable consideration, SSP analyses, and other complex accounting matters.
• Partner closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, FP&A, Billing, and Customer Success teams to ensure accurate revenue reporting and operational alignment.
• Support external audits, respond to auditor requests, and communicate accounting conclusions and policy positions.
• Assist with the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls over revenue reporting.
• Participate in ERP, CPQ, and financial systems enhancements, including testing and process improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to automate and streamline revenue accounting processes.
• Mentor and review the work of junior accounting team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 4 years of accounting experience, including public accounting, SaaS industry experience, or a combination of both.
• Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and hands-on experience applying revenue recognition guidance to complex customer contracts.
• Experience with subscription-based, recurring revenue, or software business models.
• Exposure to technical accounting topics, including contract modifications, variable consideration, SSP analyses, and revenue allocation methodologies.
• Experience supporting audits and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple business functions.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
