Interim Chief Program Officer
Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA, Fully Onsite, 5 Days a Week
Pay: $80-90/hour
Type: Temporary (covering a medical leave)
Overview: We are partnering with a well-known nonprofit organization in Downtown Los Angeles to find an experienced Interim Chief Program Officer to backfill their current CPO, who is out on medical leave. This is an executive-level opportunity for a seasoned nonprofit leader who can step in, get up to speed quickly, and provide steady, consistent leadership across a broad range of programs. Programs span early childhood and child development, sexual assault and domestic violence services, economic empowerment, and senior services. The timeline is open-ended, and the right candidate must be comfortable with ambiguity. If the current CPO does not return, there is potential for this role to convert to a permanent direct hire.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive-level leadership and oversight across all program areas in alignment with the organization's strategic plan
- Directly supervise Program Managers and Directors, including the Senior Program Administrator, Child Development Director, Economic Empowerment Director, Clinical Manager, and Director of Survivor Services
- Manage program budgets and ensure full utilization of grant funding across all programs
- Oversee grant compliance, reporting, and collaboration with Development and Finance teams
- Ensure licensing compliance and quality standards across all service areas including Child Development and Sexual Assault Response
- Report quarterly to the CEO and Board of Directors on program performance, financials, and staffing
- Hire, coach, and develop program staff and external consultants as needed
- Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team alongside the CEO and other C-suite leaders

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of program leadership experience in a nonprofit or public agency setting
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with diverse communities and managing cross-functional teams
- In-depth knowledge of budget management and grant allocations required
- Government grant process experience required
- LCSW or LMFT highly preferred but not required
Salary : $80 - $90
