DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING & FINANCIAL REPORTING

Now recruiting for a Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting on behalf of Atlanta-based organization with an outstanding reputation and culture. The employer offers a stellar benefits package, flexibility and hybrid/remote flexibility. (Typically in the office 4 days/month.)

This Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting position will lead critical financial reporting and accounting operations functions. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial statements, managing external audit relationships, overseeing technical accounting matters, and driving accounting best practices across the organization. This position offers visibility to executive leadership and the opportunity to influence financial processes, reporting standards, and operational improvements within a sophisticated accounting environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the preparation and review of annual financial statements and related disclosures.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and oversee audit planning, execution, and completion.
• Direct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close activities.
• Research, interpret, and apply accounting guidance, including implementation of new accounting standards.
• Oversee general ledger governance, account reconciliations, and financial reporting accuracy.
• Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for accounting staff.
• Partner with finance leadership and operational stakeholders on reporting needs, compliance matters, and process improvement initiatives.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to accounting systems, reporting processes, and financial controls.

The right candidate for this Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA designation
• Approximately 7-9 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong background in financial reporting, accounting research, and technical accounting.
• Experience preparing audited financial statements and related disclosures.
• Demonstrated success managing external audit relationships and compliance requirements.
• Prior public accounting experience, particularly with a Big 4 or national firm, is highly valued.
• Experience leading teams and developing accounting professionals.
• Exposure to ERP systems, system implementations, or finance transformation initiatives is a plus.
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proven track record of career progression and increasing responsibility.
• Collaborative, service-oriented leadership style with a high level of accountability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
