Vaco is recruiting for a Consultant at the Corporate Controller / VP Accounting level. Target compensation for this onsite in Atlanta role is $100 - $150 per hour and a representative job description is below. Our team will call all interested and available candidates in short order. This is a senior level role and candidates should have a CPA or MAcc in addition to experience at the Controller / VP Accounting level for an international company with revenues exceeding $500 million. We expect this assignment to last between 3 and 6 months.
Provide strategic leadership to a global, cross-functional team responsible for corporate accounting, technical accounting, financial reporting, and financial systems. Foster the development of future leaders while driving both individual and organizational growth. Act as a key partner to executive leadership in supporting the company's strategic direction and financial integrity.
Lead and mentor a global team across disciplines including consolidated financial reporting, technical accounting, and financial systems management.
Oversee the preparation and accuracy of global consolidated financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
Administer core accounting, reporting, and financial optimization platforms to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Partner with executive leadership to support strategic transactions, including the accounting and financial reporting for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Direct transaction related activities, including purchase accounting, integration or separation of financial processes, and alignment of accounting policies with corporate objectives.
Collaborate with senior leadership to execute key process improvement initiatives, enhance operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and optimize cost structures.
Serve as a subject matter expert on complex accounting matters and ensure the application of best practices across the organization.
Coordinate and guide cross-functional teams through the month-end close process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
Oversee journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure integrity of the general ledger.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; advanced degree or CPA certification is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership of global or cross-functional teams.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience with consolidated financial reporting.
Proven experience supporting complex transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Demonstrated success in process improvement, internal controls enhancement, and financial system optimization.
Public accounting experience as well as M&A accounting and Private Equity exposure are plus items.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with senior leadership.
