Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models that are intuitive, performant, and aligned with business requirements.
- Build and manage data models using Power Query and DAX, applying best practices for calculated columns, measures, and relationships ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Build and maintain Power Automate flows that connect reporting outputs to business workflows - including automated report distribution, data refresh alerting and notifications delivered to Teams or email based on live data conditions.
- Leverage Power BI's AI-powered analytics - including Smart Narratives, Anomaly Detection, Key Influencers, Decomposition Trees, and Q&A natural language features - to surface insights that go beyond static reporting.
- Write intermediate-level SQL queries to extract, filter, and shape data from relational sources such as Snowflake, SQL Server, or Azure Synapse as inputs to Power BI datasets.
- Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver tailored BI solutions.
- Conduct regular meetings with users to gather feedback, provide training, and ensure the BI tools meet their needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5 years of hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards in Power BI, with a strong portfolio of business-facing analytical solutions.
- Proficiency in DAX for creating measures, calculated tables, and time intelligence calculations, and solid experience with Power Query (M) for data shaping and transformation.
- Working knowledge of Power Automate, including experience building flows that automate report delivery, data-triggered notifications, or approval workflows connected to Power BI data alerts.
- Familiarity with Power BI's AI visuals and natural language features, and an enthusiasm for applying AI-powered capabilities to make dashboards more insightful and self-service.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, particularly using Fabric Lakehouses or Warehouses as data sources for Power BI semantic models.
- A strong eye for data visualization design - knowing when to use which chart type, how to structure a report for clarity, and how to avoid common pitfalls that mislead rather than inform.
- Experience publishing and managing content in the Power BI Service, including workspaces, row-level security, scheduled refresh, and deployment pipelines.
- Strong inclination towards automation and efficiency sees repetitive tasks as an opportunity for optimization and elimination
- Relevant Microsoft certification such as PL-300 (Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst).
