Position Overview
As a Welder at V&S Schuler Utilities Group, you will join metal parts to create strong, durable products and structures that meet exacting specifications. You’ll read and interpret blueprints, prepare materials, and operate welding equipment safely and accurately to produce work that meets our high-quality standards.
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Fitter to join our dynamic construction and manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing structural components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise in fabrication, welding, and blueprint reading will be essential to ensure the integrity and safety of our projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction sites, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and technical skills to deliver high-quality results that meet industry standards.
Duties
- Interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble structural components
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as press brake machines and plasma cutters to shape and fit metal parts
- Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding),
welding, and Soldering to join sheet metal and other materials securely - Operate cranes, rigging equipment, forklifts, and other machinery safely to move heavy materials and assemble large structures
- Measure dimensions precisely with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly
- Conduct pipe threading, ductwork installation, and mechanical assembly in accordance with blueprints and schematics
- Maintain strict adherence to ASME codes & standards during fabrication and welding processes
- Assist in the setup and operation of machining tools for component fabrication or modification
- Support overall construction activities by fabricating components, installing ductwork, or assisting with mechanical assembly as needed
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of structural assembly processes
- Skilled in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW welding, and soldering techniques
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, and machining tools
- Knowledge of rigging practices for lifting heavy components safely using cranes or forklifts
- Mechanical knowledge related to pipe threading, ductwork installation, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations required during fabrication and assembly
- Ability to operate forklifts and overhead crane safely
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills
Pay:
$25.25/hr. $4/hr. shift differential
