Job Description
V&S Construction is seeking a reliable and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support the repair, maintenance, and servicing of heavy civil construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with preferred experience working on Caterpillar equipment and utilizing CAT diagnostic software.
This position involves performing inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance both in the shop and in the field. Equipment serviced may include excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, rollers, backhoes, trucks, and other support equipment.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment and CAT diagnostic software preferred
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, emissions/DEF systems, and undercarriage components
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance and independent troubleshooting
- Field service experience is a plus
- CDL and welding experience are considered an asset
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and own basic mechanic tools
- Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently

Compensation
Pay ranges from $30.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on experience. Higher compensation may be considered for candidates with extensive Caterpillar equipment experience, CAT diagnostic software proficiency, and proven field repair expertise.
