Overall Purpose of The Job

To have responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of assigned ships and to work as a member of the Fleet Management Team, including senior ships staff, operating to Company procedures and best ship management practices whilst giving absolute regard to safety of life at sea and protection of the environment at all times.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

• Understudies and assists the Fleet Superintendents (Technical) to control and execute all activities connected with maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, conversion or modification of assigned vessels – in respect to electrical and automation issues.
• Provides direct technical assistance to the managed fleet on matters related to electrical and automation.
• Provides technical services / troubleshooting on-board the vessels as appropriate.
• During major repairs / dry-docks – as instructed:
• Checks in liaison with the Chief Engineer / Electrician, the automation / electrical installation for the vessel. To include Megger Test Report and Alarm Point Checklist.
• Assists the attending Fleet Superintendent on electrical / automation matters.
• Monitors all electrical / automation repairs and services and reports to the Fleet Superintendent accordingly
• In collaboration with the RS&Q Department follow up on rules and regulations relating to the operational and technical running of the vessels in respect to electrical and automation matters.
• Assist the Fleet Superintendents to ensure that, through close and cooperative liaison with the RS&Q Superintendent, the repair of all reported deficiencies, damages and non-conformities are cleared with the minimum of delay.
• Control and monitor the risk for assigned vessels and, where required, to act as a member of the risk assessment team for shipboard procedures and operations when called upon to do so.
• Provide assistance as requested to establish the root cause in an incident and/or accident investigation. Take part in any follow-up review of lessons learned.
• Build and maintain a professional and effective working relationship with Senior ships staff.

Essential

• Recognised Engineering/ Naval Architecture qualification and/or relevant experience at sea.
• Good communication (oral and written) and English language skills,
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with people at all levels.
• Good planning and organisational skills,
