The SharePoint Modernization & QA Specialist is a cross-functional role that blends expertise in SharePoint architecture, migration engineering, user experience design, and quality assurance. This role leads the transformation of legacy SharePoint environments into modern, responsive platforms while ensuring the integrity, functionality, and compliance of the final solution through rigorous testing and validation.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct inventory validation of existing SharePoint environments (pages, libraries, lists).
- Analyze classic SharePoint architecture and identify areas for cleanup.
- Recommend strategies for transitioning to modern SharePoint features.
- Lead technical migration using Microsoft Migration Tool and PowerShell.
- Perform pilot migrations and ensure data integrity.
- Mitigate risks such as data loss and workflow incompatibilities.
- Design modern SharePoint pages with responsive layouts and intuitive navigation.
- Implement site architecture using Hub Sites, Communication Sites, and Team Sites.
- Align design with organizational goals and UX best practices.
- Develop test plans, test cases, and scripts based on business and technical requirements.
- Execute manual and automated testing of SharePoint components.
- Validate search functionality, permissions, and security compliance.
- Log and manage defects using tools like Azure DevOps or Jira.
- Coordinate and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions.
Required/Desired/Highly desired Skills:
- Proven experience with SharePoint (Classic and Modern), including architecture, migration, and UX design.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Microsoft Migration Tool.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, search configuration, and permission models.
- Experience with manual and automated testing tools.
- Familiarity with compliance standards and security testing.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Role in Project Phases:
- Phase 1–2 (Discovery & Planning): SME for SharePoint assessment and cleanup strategy.
- Phase 3 (Design): Leads UX and site architecture design.
- Phase 4 (Migration): Owns technical migration execution and risk mitigation.
- Phase 5 (Testing): Leads QA activities including functional testing, UAT, and search functionality validation.
