What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Uxbridge Public Schools?
Full-time position at Taft Early Learning Center for the 2026-2027 school year. This person is the provider ofhealth related services at the school level and is an essential part of maintaining a healthy and safe schoolenvironment where all students can learn and make successful progress. Completes health evaluations of students as required by district policy, the Department of PublicHealth, or IDEA. Conducts mandated health screenings, including vision, hearing, growth, and postural screenings, inaccordance with DPH guidelines.
Develops and implements Individualized Health Care Plans and Emergency Action Plans for studentswith chronic or acute health conditions. Administers medications and treatments in accordance with DPH and district guidelines, includingemergency medications such as epinephrine and glucagon. Consults with students, parents, administrators, and staff to explain health assessments, medicalinformation, and care plans. Maintains accurate and confidential health records and files in compliance with state and federalregulations.
Assists students, families, and staff in locating and accessing appropriate health services andcommunity resources. Monitors compliance with state immunization requirements, including follow up with families onoutstanding records. Supervises and trains volunteers and unlicensed staff who assist in the delivery of student healthservices, including medication administration training. Collaborates with classroom teachers, special education staff, and Team members on health relatedaccommodations for IEPs and 504 plans.
Works cooperatively with the school physician, outside providers, and community health agencies inthe delivery of services. Completes follow up on accident and injury reports with students and parents. Provides in-service training to staff on topics such as allergy management, seizure response, anduniversal precautions. Reports communicable diseases and other public health concerns to local and state healthauthorities as required.
Advises the Principal and district administration on medical or health related issues as needed. Completes plans, reports, and other documentation required by policy, regulation, or Medicaidbilling for school health services.
