POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises clinical and clerical support staff in assigned area of responsibility. Assists in overseeing unit budget and operations ensuring quality patient care and cost effectiveness. Assists Department manager/director in the implementation of unit, department and institutional strategic goals. Assists department manager/director with employee performance issues and provides input for performance evaluations in conjunction with department manager/director. As needed, provides clinical care. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing or respiratory philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives. |
AGE SPECIFIC CARE: Provides age and culturally appropriate assessment, interpretation of clinical and laboratory data and develops and implements age-appropriate interventions and plans of care including education within the parameters of his/her position responsibilities and licensure. |
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Completion of neonatal / pediatrics specialty examination of the National Board of Respiratory Care. |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current RT Licensure in the State of Illinois Current BLS/CPR certification Valid NRP course completion ACLS & PALS certification. |
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Demonstrated leadership skills. Excellent communication, organization and critical-decision making skills required. Good interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization and community. Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in all aspects of pediatric and neonatal respiratory care at a level III NICU. Previous clinical leadership experience preferred. |
