Excellent career opportunity with established growth-oriented manufacturer of commercial truck trailers. We are looking for candidates with a strong interest and skillset in mechanical design with background in CAD. Training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create drawings using SolidWorks and Bills of Materials using AS400 as required to support manufacturing plants in production of trailers on a per order basis.
• Develop designs that includes the entire trailer assembly as well as focus on specific areas such as lower front subframe, landing leg, lower rear subframe suspensions, braking, electrical harness, lights, walls, floor, and thermal performance. Daily tasks frequently include designing sheet metal and structural fabrication including welding.
• Training will be provided in-house.
• Utilize manufacturing based skillsets to process trailer production orders resulting in a compete bill of materials and design package that meets customer requirements.
• Configure special order trailers using option conflict resolution.
• Specify material selection including various types of steel, aluminum, wood, plastic, urethane foams, fasteners, and components.
• Communicate with sales, engineering, outside suppliers, and other departments as required. Acquire vendor information using on-line tools.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of drafting standards.
• Working knowledge of CAD software. SolidWorks preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
• Willing to accept responsibility, work independently, and follow directions.
• Good organizational skills & self-motivated
• 1-3 years of drafting experience in design of sheet metal, or structural fabrication, and welding is preferred but not required.
• A two-year degree is preferred but not required.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Regularly exercises discretion and the ability to prioritize workload.

Compensation

Salary Range: $23 to $28 an hour
