Job Description
UTI is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Operator Qualification (OQ) Evaluator position. The primary focus of this position is to interact with operators, contractors, plumbers, curriculum providers, and in-house departments to provide unsurpassed training and qualification services. This is done through computer-based testing and hands-on skills evaluations for individuals working on natural gas facilities.
Periodic day travel and occasional overnights could be required as part of this position, typically within Indiana, Ohio and surrounding states.
This position will be based in a home office.
OQ Evaluator Responsibilities:
- Provide a comfortable and judgement-free testing environment
- Comfortable using computers for testing and an iPad for skill submittals
- Understand state and federal regulations that apply to Operator Qualification
- Understand and implement the operator’s policies and procedures
- Ability to be qualified by ITS, EWN, NiSource, Veriforce, Centerpoint to perform evaluations
- Follow all safety procedures related to the tasks
- Typical tasks evaluated:
- Plastic Pipe Joining
- Utility Locating
- Corrosion Control
- Leak Survey
- Installation of Customer Service Lines and Meters
- Pipeline Installation, Maintenance, and Operation
OQ Evaluator Requirements:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English language)
- Excellent people management skills
- Flexibility with scheduling
- Ability to handle multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously without compromising quality of work or safety
- Mechanical aptitude
- Troubleshooting skills
- Analyze situations, make informed decisions, take necessary actions, and notify supervisors of any exceptions to standard processes.
- Provide personal vehicle (company mileage reimbursable)
- Discretion when dealing with confidential information
- Good record of safe work practices
- Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol screening · Ability to pass random Drug and Alcohol screenings
- Ability to stand for several hours at a time
Preferred Skills:
- 15 years’ experience working on or around natural gas pipelines
- Broad skill set covering all tasks performed on a pipeline
- Working knowledge and experience with 49 CFR Parts 192
- OSHA 10 and/or other industry safety training/qualifications
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
