What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer position at Utility Construction Specialists?
JOB SUMMARY / GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Performs general labor duties in support of utility and civil construction operations. Assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of utility infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs physical labor tasks including digging, trenching, shoveling, loading and unloading materials, setting structures, and site cleanup
- Assists with job site setup, maintenance, and breakdown
- Follows directions from the Foreman or Site Supervisor to support daily project activities
- Safely operates hand tools and equipment in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards
- Works effectively as part of a crew in fast-paced outdoor environments
- Maintains accurate timesheets and daily work records
- Drive to and from job sites
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor
- Complies with all safety rules, procedures, and regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start date of employment
- OSHA 10‑Hour Certification required at time of hire or within 90 days thereafter.
- 3 years experience in utilities, telecommunications, civil construction, or related field (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Commercial Driver License or willingness to obtain (preferred)
- Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and medical card evaluation.
- Knowledge of basic construction safety practices
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English related to job duties and safety requirements.
