UTHealth Houston's Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging - Medical Physics Program is hiring a Program Manager! The Program Manager will support Medical Physics’ mission to collaborate and cultivate as a team; be committed to providing advanced knowledge through education; and provide high-quality patient care through cutting-edge technology and research, while maintaining high morals and ethical standards. The Medical Physics Program offers numerous clinical responsibilities, advanced imaging, clinical research, medical physics education to trainees (residents, fellows and medical students) and has a CAMPEP accredited residency program that offers 14 resident slot every year. Medical Physics Program supports partnerships with Memorial Hermann and Harris Health Hospital System as part of the McGovern Medical School. The program also collaborates with other UTHealth Houston Affiliates.

Position Summary:

Develops, plans and manages all activities of a school/unit program(s) or project(s). Functions in a Leadership capacity in the program and a primary administrator in the medical physics residency program.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversees all aspects of the program activities. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors project progress. Develops, implements, and manages policies and procedures.
  • May manage/maintain annual budget, negotiate service contracts, report on progress and/or authorize expenditures.
  • Informs upper management of key activities and makes periodic progress reports.
  • Works closely with internal departments regarding strategy and collaborative opportunities.
  • May assist in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies.
  • Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.
  • Working in conjunction with Public Affairs, may create and edit various communications materials for the department/ program, which may include printed materials, web site content and/or department newsletters.
  • Communicates with community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes. Prepares/makes oral presentations at professional meetings.
  • May manage Human Resources activities for direct report in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training and development, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Manage and assist the program director for the renewal of medical physics residency accreditation and audits
  • Manage multiple high-priority tasks and projects with precision, ensuring timely execution and seamless communication across teams and leadership.
  • Adept in using Coupa for procurement, travel requests, and reimbursements.
  • Manages operational and logistic responsibilities for special events such as faculty recruitment, alumni networking events, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products. Excellent communication skills, be able to communicate with the clinical team effectively. Attention to detail and great electronic organization skills are preferred.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years of applicable experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code

  • 51.215 and Texas Government Code

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
