Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Pediatrics

This position will work in the Li Lab in the Department of Pediatrics, Pediatric Research Center. The Pediatric Research Center is home to wide-ranging research focused on identifying the causes of birth defects with the ultimate goal of developing prevention and treatment strategies.

The postdoctoral research fellow will conduct laboratory and computational research using mouse models, genomics, bioinformatics, machine learning, and single-cell technologies to investigate craniofacial development and congenital diseases. Daily responsibilities will include:

• Designing and performing experiments

• Analyzing and interpreting data

• Advancing research projects involving orofacial clefting, transcriptional regulation, alternative splicing, and in utero therapies

• Contributing to scientific presentations, publications, and grant applications.

Applicants should hold, or expect to receive, a PhD in developmental biology, genetics, molecular and cellular biology, bioengineering, or a related field.

• Previous experience with mouse models, organoid culture, and/or microinjection is preferred.

• Candidates with strong experimental, analytical, or computational skills are encouraged to apply.

Position Summary:

A biomedical postdoc position provides an opportunity for early-career researchers to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their field of expertise.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.
2. Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
3. Reads and evaluates literature.
4. Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.
5. Have strong written and oral communication skills.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
