Position Key Accountabilities:
- Developing and sustaining an environment in the patient care units that supports excellence and innovation in clinical practice and patient care through assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and standards that support positive patient care outcomes, including excellent risk-adjusted outcomes.
- Establishing and leading a robust, externally funded research program focused on fundamental and translational pathology.
- Actively securing external grant funding and publishing high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Providing training for residents, fellows, medical students, as well as develop an individual and//or collaborative research program.
- Serve as a role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborating with UTHealth and hospital administration and physicians to identify future opportunities, define the direction of department services; develop and implement plans to achieve identified goals.
- Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, in-services, and current publications while supporting education and research initiatives.
- Participating in autopsy services in the future.
- M.D. or D.O.
- Texas Medical License or eligibility for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
- Residency with board certification in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology.
- Formal fellowship training in a subspecialty, with experience in at least one of the following areas: Neuropathology, Cytopathology, Breast and Gynecologic Pathology, Molecular, Cardiovascular, Pediatrics, General Surgical Pathology, or Gastrointestinal.
