Table Maintenance & Cleanliness: Clear used plates, glasses, cutlery, and napkins from tables once diners have finished, ensuring tables are clean and ready for new guests. Wipe up water spills, food stains, and other debris from tables to maintain a clean dining area.
Setup for New Guests: Replace cutlery, glassware, and condiments in anticipation of new diners, ensuring that each table is fully stocked and prepared for service.
Refilling & Restocking: Refill drinking glasses with water as needed and replenish paper napkins, salt, and pepper shakers, as well as other necessary condiments.
Assisting Waitstaff: Support waitstaff by delivering meal orders to diners when needed, ensuring that guests receive their food in a timely manner when servers are occupied.
Dining Area Cleaning: Participate in cleaning duties for the dining area at the close of the day, ensuring the space is ready for the next shift or day of service.
Team Support & Communication: Communicate effectively with the waitstaff and kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and efficient service. Work cooperatively to ensure guests are satisfied and service is seamless.
General
- Must be at least 18 years old to obtain a UMUGC Non-Support License (required).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with waitstaff, kitchen staff, and management.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once while maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications
- Food handlers’ card preferred.
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar busser or support role preferred.
- Minimum 6 months of service experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Basic knowledge of restaurant service procedures and customer service expectations.
- Ability to handle cleaning tasks efficiently and to maintain cleanliness in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate guests' needs.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively during busy shifts.
