Summary/Objective
The Wait Staff is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to guests, ensuring an outstanding dining experience through attentive service, prompt order delivery, and a thorough understanding of the menu. This position plays a key role in creating a positive and welcoming environment for all guests, helping to drive customer satisfaction and repeat business. The Food Server is expected to maintain professionalism, efficiency, and accuracy in a fast-paced dining setting, working closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to meet guest needs.
Key Accountabilities
Guest Interaction:
Acknowledge and greet guests promptly with a smile, offering a warm and welcoming experience. Maintain positive, professional communication with all guests throughout their dining experience.
Menu Knowledge:
Provide guests with detailed information about menu items, specials, and promotions. Ensure thorough understanding of the menu to assist guests with selections and answer any dietary or ingredient-related questions.
Order Accuracy & Service:
Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, ensuring that all requests are captured correctly. Deliver food and drinks in a timely manner while double-checking for accuracy before serving.
Guest Satisfaction Monitoring:
Actively monitor guest satisfaction during the dining experience, anticipating needs such as refills or additional condiments. Respond promptly to guest requests and resolve any issues that may arise to ensure a positive experience.
Table Maintenance:
Clear empty plates, glasses, and other items from tables efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized dining area. Utilize bus carts to ensure a quick turnaround of tables for incoming guests.
Qualifications
General
- Must be at least 18 years old to obtain a UMUGC Non-Support License (required). Must be able to pass the UMUGC and CG background investigations (no financial crimes or other felonies).
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Certifications
- Food handlers’ card (preferred).
Experience
- At least one year of experience in a wait staff or food service role required.
- Experience in a high-volume or fast-paced dining environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with guests.
- Ability to accurately take orders and deliver food and beverages in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques.
