What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant - Part Time position at Utah Surgical?
We are looking for a Part Time Medical Assistant for our highly skilled and fast-paced General Surgeons office in St. George, Utah.
Hours:
Monday - Thursday 8:30am-4:00pm with a 1 hour lunch
Can be flexible.
Prerequisites:
- Phone and in-person etiquette
- Positive personality
- Well organized
- Ability to make proactive autonomous decisions
- Ability to adapt, multi-task and support co-workers to ensure a cohesive patient experience
- Experience utilizing various software (ex: Excel, Word, Electronic Medical Records, etc.)
Job Duties (include but not limited to):
- Promptly and professionally call patients from the waiting room to take vitals, follow up on his/her health history, and help them get prepared in the exam room to see the doctor
- Sanitize and stock exam rooms
- Answer and return calls to patients with prescription, procedure, or medical condition questions in a timely manner
- Assist doctors with in-office procedures (preparation and clean up)
- Transcribe doctor's notes in the exam room while the doctor examines and communicates with the patients
- Complete required steps of meaningful use measures for each patient visit
- Organize patient results into electronic charts
- Track and report doctor wait times and availability while in office
- Sterilize and organize medical instruments
Preferences (preferred but not required):
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Previous experience working in a medical practice, especially as a medical assistant
