Overview
The Utah State University (USU) Rehabilitation Counseling program (RCP) seeks to hire a Professional Practice Assistant Professor with experience working in a variety of rehabilitation counseling settings.
This position will have a heavy focus on teaching and advising in the USU RCP and teaching responsibilities will be dispersed across the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The majority of courses in the USU RCP are delivered using distance technologies and use both live-broadcast and asynchronous methods of instruction.
The highly qualified candidate will collaborate with university colleagues and community members and teach courses in the Master’s of Rehabilitation Counseling program. In addition to serving those with mental health concerns, special consideration would be given to applicants with a history of serving individuals with physical, cognitive, and intellectual disabilities with co-occurring mental health concerns.
This position will be physically located at the USU main campus in Logan. This is a 1.0 FTE, term appointment, nine-month academic year position.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Hold master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling or a closely related field, preferably from a CACREP accredited program.
Hold or be eligible for full-licensure within the State of Utah as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC; https://dopl.utah.gov/cmhc/);
Have experience providing rehabilitation counseling to a variety of clients;
Have knowledge of technology-enhanced college teaching and electronic distance education modalities (both synchronous and asynchronous);
Possess expertise in multicultural teaching modalities and clinical competencies;
Have experience providing direct career exploration and development or other services to individuals with disabilities;
Have a history of positive working relationships with counseling professionals and faculty; and
Show evidence of the potential to be an excellent college-level teacher.

The Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling is located in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. The department offers programs in Rehabilitation Counseling (Master’s), Special Education (Undergraduate, Master’s, Alternative Teacher Preparation), and sponsors the Ph.D. in Disability Disciplines with specializations in (a) rehabilitation counselor education and supervision, (b) special education, (c) applied behavior analysis, (d) speech/language pathology, (e) audiology, (f) pathokinesiology, and (g) disabilities studies. Faculty value a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to the inclusion of people with disabilities across the lifespan.
Graduates from the USU RCP are prepared as rehabilitation counselors who work with individuals with disabilities and their families. The USU RCP faculty teach distance students using synchronous and asynchronous delivery. The USU RCP is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and is ranked 15th in the nation by the U.S. News and World Report (2019). Over the last six years, an average of 22 degree-seeking students were enrolled in the program per year. Our graduates pass the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) examination at a consistently high rate and are hired in rehabilitation counselor positions across the nation. Students are eligible for other national counseling certification exams and consistently pass those examinations as well.
Faculty have the opportunity to work with numerous state rehabilitation organizations, and on-campus programs such as the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Service Line (https://cehs.usu.edu/scce/services/clinical-rehabilitation-counseling) and other community clinics housed within the Sorenson Legacy Foundation Center for Clinical Excellence (https://scce.usu.edu ), the Institute for Disability Research, Policy and Practice (a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities), the EmployAbility Clinic (which provides employment services to individuals with disabilities in the community), the Aggies Elevated program (an on-campus residential post-secondary education program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities) and other grant-funded projects (e.g., the Utah Assistive Technology Program, the National Center on Disability and Access to Education (NCDAE), and Autism Support Services - Education Research, and Training (ASSERT)).
