Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Front Office Receptionist / Patient Care Coordinator to join our vibrant dental practice. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-in/check-out processes using dental practice management software such as Dentrix
- Maintain and update patient records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems including eClinicalWorks and other medical documentation platforms
- Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and explanation of treatment plans to patients
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, provide excellent customer service, and address patient inquiries promptly
- Review documentation for accuracy, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and support health information management efforts
- Support clinical staff by managing appointment schedules, coordinating care plans, and facilitating smooth clinic operations
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in a medical or dental office environment with strong familiarity of front desk operations and medical administrative support
- Knowledge of dental terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and medical billing procedures
- Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic, Meditech or Athenahealth is highly desirable
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing skills (10 key typing), and familiarity with health information management software
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Exceptional phone etiquette, customer service skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with insurance verification processes and medical coding is highly valued
