A Postdoctoral fellow position is available in the department of Cancer Biology, under the supervision of Dr. PaulinoTallón de Lara, an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to perform hands-on experiments to develop novel mechanism-guided precision therapeutic strategies to address unmet clinical needs in colorectal cancer, and to understand the role and mechanisms by which chromosomal instability modifies the tumor immune response. The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct experiments, perform data analysis and prepare manuscripts in addition to attending lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars.

The Postdoctoral Fellow's primary research focus is to help the PI merge mechanistic insights with the translational objectives of experimental therapeutics and the accompanying stratifications of genetic biomarkers to address unmet clinical needs in colorectal cancer.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of the appointment, the postdoc will learn how to independently develop and execute a project that addresses clinical challenge or knowledge gaps in the field. The Postdoctoral Fellow will train, learn and study design, data analysis and manuscript writing. The postdoc will also learn to independently conduct data analysis that drives hypothesis and experimental design.

Eligibility Requirements

Individuals with a PhD degree in cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology, or related fields with less than 2 years of postdoctoral experience. Experience with rodent studies is required for this role. Individuals with an MD with significant wet lab experience will be also consider. Candidate should have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Proven track record of publications, excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

The appointee recently (within three years) completed their education (doctorate) or completed previous postdoctoral experience or graduate medical education

The appointment is temporary

The appointment involves substantial full-time research or scholarship

The appointment is viewed as preparatory for a full-time academic and/or research career

The appointment is not part of a clinical training program

The appointee works under the supervision of a senior scholar or a department in a university or similar research institution (e.g., national laboratory, National Institutes of Health (NIH), etc.)

The appointee has the freedom to and is expected to publish the results of his or her research or scholarship during the period of the appointment

POSITION INFORMATION

MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000. depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience. Offsite work arrangements are subject to approval and may be modified or revoked at any time based on business needs, performance considerations, or regulatory requirements.

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening.
