A full time onsite postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Cancer Biology under the direct supervision of Dr. Leo
Lei. Dr. Lei's laboratory is jointly supported by the Departments of Head and Neck Surgery and Cancer Biology at the University of Texas MD
Anderson Cancer Center.

Under Dr. Lei's supervision, the successful candidate will conduct high-impact lab-based research focused on examining the molecular mechanism regulating the immune escape mechanisms of initiating cancers and identify novel targets to improve immunoprevention and immunotherapy. We integrate a richrepertoire of technologies, including biochemistry, flow cytometry, next-generationsequencing, single-cell immune profiling, spatial transcriptomics, and transgenic modeling, to evaluate the mechanisms underpinning immune tolerance of cancers.
The candidate will participate in departmental academic activities and will present at research meetings locally, nationally, and internationally. The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to submit research findings for publication in high-impact peer- reviewed scientific journals and to assist future grant applications.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The candidate will train in cancer research using interdisciplinary research methods combining molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and metabolomics, to study the role of metabolism inanti-tumor immune response.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidate should hold a recent PhD (including PhD candidates) or equivalent doctorate degree with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: Immunology, genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, or biochemistry. Candidates with a background in Cancer Biology, Immunology, or Metabolism are strongly encouraged to apply. Proven track record of publications and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

For an individual to be eligible for a postdoctoral fellow appointment, all of the following conditions must be met:

The appointee recently (within three years) completed their education (doctorate) or completed previous postdoctoral experience or graduate medical education
The appointment is temporary
The appointment involves substantial full-time research or scholarship
The appointment is viewed as preparatory for a full-time academic and/or research career
The appointment is not part of a clinical training program
The appointee works under the supervision of a senior scholar or a department in a university or similar research institution (e.g., national laboratory, National Institutes of Health (NIH), etc.)
The appointee has the freedom to and is expected to publish the results of his or her research or scholarship during the period of the appointment
Postdoctoral fellowships are designed to provide intensive laboratory-based research experiences that produce independent investigators. Appointees holding an M.D. degree or equivalent are not permitted to engage in patient care activity.
