- UT Health Jacksonville features 33 operational beds, an ICU, a 24-hour ED designated as a Level IV trauma center, a maternity unit, advanced diagnostic technology, surgical suites, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and a UT Health East Texas Olympic Center fitness and rehabilitation facility.
Responsibilities
- The Patient Care Tech works in partnership with the licensed nurse to support the delivery of care in a safe patient environment that promotes caring and healing.
- The PCT demonstrates basic knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for age specific populations under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- He/she records data as directed by policy and procedure, and reports observations and patient concerns to the licensed nurse.
- The Patient Care Technician II is responsible for assigned non-nursing functions.
- Duties of a PCT include, but may not be limited to, obtaining vital signs; assisting patients with basic tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and eating and other ADLs; collecting specimens for lab tests; and assistance with monitoring of patients.
- The PCT is competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross-trained and cross-competent to cover more than one hospital service, role or function).
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification required or may be in senior year of nursing school with less than one semester to complete the nursing program.
- For Emergency room departments - completion of an approved EMT Basic certification may be substituted for CNA/PCT certification.
- Must maintain active certification within the State of Texas.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
- Training, education and competencies completed annually for any additional duties.
- Comply with regulatory requirements, guidelines, and policies.
- 2 years of experience in acute care hospital or long-term care facility.
