- UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 432 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.
Responsibilities
- Works in partnership with the licensed nurse to support the delivery of care in a safe patient environment that promotes caring and healing.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for age specific populations under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Records data as directed by policy and procedure, and reports observations and patient concerns to the licensed nurse.
- Responsible for obtaining vital signs; assisting patients with basic tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and eating and other ADLs; collecting specimens for lab tests; and assistance with monitoring of patients.
- Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross-trained and cross-competent to cover more than one hospital service, role or function).
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification required or may be in senior year of nursing school with less than one semester to complete the nursing program.
- Must maintain active certification within the State of Texas.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
- Training, education and competencies completed annually for any additional duties required.
- Two years' experience in acute care hospital or long-term care facility.
