You Are:

We are seeking a dedicated Lab Support Technician to assist in managing, maintaining, and operating engineering lab infrastructure. The role requires hands-on technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to support hardware validation, system bring-up, and lab organization activities.

The opportunity:

• Perform system assembly, disassembly, and upgrades for servers, desktops, and lab platforms

• Support BIOS/firmware flashing, OS installation, driver updates, and system setup

• Assist in debugging hardware issues including POST failures, CPU, memory, or power issues

• Manage inventory of lab equipment, components, and cables; track usage and availability

• Perform rack mounting, cable routing, and power connections for lab hardware

• Follow ESD and safety protocols while handling sensitive components

• Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and secure access practices

• Provide daily updates to engineering teams on hardware readiness and issues

• Document configuration changes, setups, and system movement logs

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What you need:

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in a hardware/system validation or lab environment

• Familiarity with computer components, BIOS/firmware handling, and hardware bring-up

• Basic understanding of Windows/Linux OS installation and configuration

• Experience with physical inventory tracking and labeling

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work on racks, benches, or under desks as needed

• Good communication and documentation skills

• Desired Skills

• Prior experience working in a silicon validation or OEM lab environment

• Basic scripting knowledge (Python or PowerShell) for automation or test triggers

• Familiarity with ticketing or asset management tools like ServiceNow

• Qualification

• High School Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering.

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Washington

Compensation Range: $40,000-$60,000

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).
