Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing customer service duties, such as greeting, screening, and directing customers; Utilizing automated systems to input data and generate reports; Executing various clerical duties to prepare, edit, and transmit personnel actions correspondence, and documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours.
Typing Proficiency: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

- Serve as the primary civilian and military personnel systems manager for employees of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).
- Serve as timekeeper providing advice to supervisors on time and leave procedures.
- Receives all visitors and business-related phone calls to direct to appropriate staff or office.
- Process mail to include distribution to appropriate staff members and post office.
- Maintain files, records, manuals, handbooks, media, and other related materials.
- Assist newly assigned personnel in in-processing and completing required forms.
- Prepare monthly reports to higher headquarters regarding personnel, operational, and unit information.
Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DD) 285 Mail Handler's Card and pass background screening to qualify for and sustain system passwords and access automated data systems.
- Position is considered a confidential employee (with respect to labor-management relations).
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
