The position is based on the
Hattiesburg campus (Hattiesburg, MS). We are a multi-site university;
therefore, the candidate may be required to teach at the Gulf Park campus (Long
Beach, MS) and/or teach online/hybrid courses using various forms of technology.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the
United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. The
University will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B).
Accounting Program
The School of Accountancy is separately accredited by AACSB
and offers undergraduate and master degrees with an extensive network of alumni
in local, state, and federal service. We serve accounting majors on both the
Hattiesburg and the Gulf Park campuses and in our online program. The
Hattiesburg area has an estimated population of approximately 150,000 and is
one of the fastest growing regions in the State of Mississippi. The main campus is located in the culturally
diverse and economically dynamic southern part of Mississippi about 65 miles
from the Gulf Coast. Students, faculty and staff benefit from a climate that

Job Summary
The
University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time,
nine-month non-tenure-track Instructor of Accounting position to begin
in August 2026. Our specific instructional needs at this time are in the
areas of financial accounting and managerial/cost accounting.
Primary
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Duties and responsibilities of this position include excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in accounting and service to advance the mission of the accounting program and the instructor’s school, university, and the academy. The standard teaching load for the position is 24 credit hours a year, or a 4/4 teaching load. Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid. The individual hired for this position may be assigned to teach graduate courses as needed.
- The candidate will also be required to maintain their qualification as a Scholarly Academic or an Instructional Practitioner.
- The School of Accountancy holds separate AACSB accreditation. All accounting faculty are required to contribute to the maintenance of separate AACSB accreditation.
