Job Summary
The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for two full-time, nine-month tenure-track faculty positions in the School of Accountancy to begin in August 2025. We are a multi-site university; therefore, the candidate may be required to teach at the Hattiesburg campus and the Gulf Park campus (Long Beach, MS), and/or teach online/hybrid courses using various forms of technology.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Research duties and responsibilities will include publishing in highly-rated accounting journals. School of Accountancy faculty are actively engaged in scholarly, professional, and pedagogical research to extend the knowledge boundaries of the accounting discipline while maintaining the currency of their academic/professional qualifications and the School’s curriculum.
- Duties and responsibilities of this position include excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting and service to the School of Accountancy, College of Business and Economic Development, university, and the academy. Teaching duties will be in our bachelor’s in accounting, Master of Professional Accountancy, and/or Master of Business Administration programs based on need. The areas of teaching need are managerial / cost accounting and financial accounting. The individual may also be assigned to teach in a secondary area with the greatest need being in tax and auditing. Classes in other areas will be assigned as needed and efforts will be made to find opportunities for the faculty member to teach in his/her special areas of expertise. Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid.
- The individual selected must demonstrate a collegial and team-oriented approach to research, teaching, and service. In addition to excelling in research, the successful candidate must be devoted to teaching excellence at the graduate and undergraduate levels and must demonstrate a commitment to student success. All faculty are also required to be actively engaged in our assurance of learning processes.
- The School of Accountancy holds separate AACSB accreditation. All faculty in the school are required to contribute to the maintenance of separate AACSB accreditation.
