The primary purpose of this position is to setup, breakdown, repair, modify and operate professional audio/video, lighting, computers, rigging, and theatrical systems in support of several special high-level functions hosted by Headquarters USAFA and other USAFA Mission Elements scheduling the theater for conferences, symposiums, meetings, reunions, or ceremonies.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of processes, methodologies of theater arts to include technical production; set, lighting, stage management, sound board, audio, video, lighting broadcast and recording equipment operations and maintenance; Knowledge of installation, capabilities, use and maintenance of stage management, set up and operate sound and mixing board equipment, operation of audio and video equipment, installation of microphones, sound speakers, multi-media equipment in order to operate and to provide supervision to others operating systems in a theater; Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and valuative methods and techniques to resolve issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature in regards to set and lighting design, reading engineering drawings, specifications and to manage use of props and design budgets.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; or claiming Superior Academic Achievement. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of theater arts to include technical production, stage operations; production planning; set, lighting, stage direction and multimedia production.
2. Knowledge of planning, scheduling and conducting projects and studies to evaluate and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work operations involving Arnold Hall events.
3. Knowledge of an installation's or similar type organization's programs, operations, objectives and policies to accomplish a variety of Arnold Hall events plans.
4. Skill in communication effectively both orally and in writing such as in integrating appropriate policy guidance into clear, concise communications, briefing techniques, and writing reports.
5. Skill in analyzing, planning and caring out projects/events and coordinating functions with a variety of organizations.
6. Ability to evaluate and analyze data to determine requirements, prepares necessary documentation, and develops and executes plans/events.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Qualifications:
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1054, Theater Specialist Series.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Responsibilities:
- Provides technical support and capability to set-up/trouble shoot theater network system and engineering to include stage management, sound, lighting and equipment needed for theater and ballroom events.
- Maintains a 2,811 seat theater/auditorium, main/backstage area, sound booth, rehearsal room, dressing rooms, green-room, storage rooms/staff offices and serves as the scheduler for all events in the theater.
- Reviews tech writers for all entertainment shows and makes recommendations on theater capabilities in meeting requirements requested.
- Serves as the Assistant Officer In Charge (OIC) for RATTEX Club and works closely with the Bluebards acting group.
- Provides Arnold Hall Director with input for equipment upgrades, strategic planning and facility improvements.
