This role is responsible for delivering exceptional service to policyholders, agents, and prospective customers by handling inquiries, processing policy changes, and supporting day-to-day insurance operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and passionate about helping customers understand and manage their insurance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, courteous, and professional customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions
- Answer customer questions regarding policies, coverage, billing, and claims status
- Process policy changes, endorsements, cancellations, and renewals accurately and efficiently
- Assist customers with payment processing and resolve billing-related inquiries
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in internal systems
- Collaborate with agents, underwriters, and other internal departments as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and state insurance regulations
- Identify opportunities to educate customers on coverage options and additional products
- Handle customer concerns or complaints with professionalism and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior customer service experience required; insurance industry experience preferred
- Michigan Property & Casualty insurance license (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with computers, data entry, and customer management systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude
Preferred Skills
- Experience in auto insurance or non-standard insurance products
- Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with insurance policy administration systems
