Responsibilities
- Practices family centered care according to policies and Nurse Practice Act
- Provides timely, courteous, and efficacious care to patients
- Examines, diagnoses, and prescribes treatments and medications
- Performs or orders tests and/or procedures for a variety of diseases and injuries using medical instruments and equipment
- Refers to medical specialists for consultation
- Communicates with patients' primary physician as indicated
- Utilizes proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients without assistance or with assistance when needed for patient safety and by moving equipment that is necessary to perform essential functions
- Provides patient and family education by planning, coordinating, and delegating, as appropriate, the educational needs of each patient
- Utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the Clinical Information System
- Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare team in person and via telephone
- Exhibits cooperative and professional demeanor
- Responds to overhead pages
- Maintains patient and medical records and completes charge documents and code records for billing purposes
- Completes all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirements
- Utilizes cost-effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Demonstrates the ability to provide competent patient care to the following patient populations: neonate, infant-toddler/preschool, school age/adolescent, reproductive age, and post/perimenopausal
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities through quality measurement or participation of ICARE
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as required

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program Required
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
- Ability to be credentialed for USA Hospital privileges or completion of an accredited physician assistant training program as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama Ability to be credentialed for USA Hospital privileges or completion of an accredited physician assistant training program as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama
