What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rigging Labor position at US Trades?
US Trades is seeking dependable and safety-minded Rigger Laborers to support rail-to-yard offloading operations for wind farm components, including tower sections, blades, and nacelles. This is a physically active role that involves working closely with Crane Operators and Rigging Supervisors to safely unload and position oversized components within the laydown yard.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with rigging, signaling, and guiding loads during the unloading of rail cars.
• Work closely with Crane Operators to properly stage and secure components throughout the laydown yard.
• Climb on and off rail cars safely and repeatedly throughout the day to connect, disconnect, and secure rigging gear.
• Handle and inspect slings, shackles, and chains to ensure proper rigging configurations and safe lifting practices.
• Maintain clear communication with rigging and crane teams using standard hand signals and radios.
• Support site housekeeping, including cleaning and organizing the yard between train arrivals.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and follow all site-specific and OSHA safety procedures.
• Perform additional general labor duties as assigned by site supervision.
Qualifications
• Prior experience in construction, rigging, or heavy industrial labor preferred.
• Must be able to climb, bend, lift up to 75 lbs, and work on uneven surfaces.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and safety awareness in all tasks.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; must be able to take direction from site leads and operators.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to work long hours as needed.
• Ability to climb, stand and walk for extended periods of time and repeatedly throughout the shift
Work Environment
• Work performed outdoors in an active rail and crane yard.
• Regular exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment.
• Typical schedule: 50–60 hours per week during offloading operations, with potential overtime.
