Job Summary:
The Night Shift (6pm-6am) Production Line Mixer Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining mixing equipment used in the production of commercial modified bitumen roofing materials. This role ensures proper blending of raw materials according to formulation specifications, supports production line flow, and upholds quality and safety standards in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Pay: $21.50 per hour plus and additional $1.50 for shift differential
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor mixers and related equipment on the production line for modified roofing material (e.g., bitumen, polymers, fillers).
- Accurately weigh, measure, and mix raw materials in accordance with batch formulations and production schedules.
- Monitor mixing parameters such as temperature, viscosity, time, and blend quality to ensure consistent product output.
- Coordinate with the control room and line operators to maintain steady production flow.
- Conduct visual and physical quality checks; report and correct deviations or anomalies.
- Maintain accurate records of batch numbers, material usage, and process parameters.
- Clean and inspect mixers and equipment regularly to prevent contamination or mechanical failure.
- Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE; handle hot materials and chemicals in a controlled and safe manner.
- Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions or process issues to maintenance or supervisory personnel.
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of mixed materials for downstream processing.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to process efficiency.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment; prior experience in roofing, asphalt, or chemical manufacturing preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret batch sheets, technical instructions, and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in hot or dusty environments.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to high heat, hot asphalt, and industrial noise.
- Use of PPE is required.
- Rotating shifts or weekend work may be required depending on production demands.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending, climbing, and standing.
- Handling of heavy bags, drums, or raw material containers.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
