Fire Truck Chassis Assembly Technician

US FIRE PUMP
Holden, LA Full Time
POSTED ON 9/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/16/2027

Who we are:
US Fire Pump is the industry leader in developing, manufacturing, and distributing custom designed industrial firefighting pumps, water supply units, and heavy-duty fire apparatus. Our primary mission is to protect the lives of the public and fire industry personnel while limiting property damage. US Fire Pump also maintains the largest industrial Emergency Response Team and equipment assets in the world.

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Fire Truck Assembly Technician to join our fire apparatus manufacturing team. This position focuses on modifying truck chassis and assembling custom fire trucks, not necessarily diesel engine repair or routine automotive service work.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys building things, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can be counted on every day. You don’t need to be a diesel mechanic, but you should be mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and able to work as part of a team to build reliable fire trucks that serve communities across the country.

If you enjoy working with your hands, solving mechanical problems, and building equipment that serves first responders and makes a difference, we’d like to hear from you.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Modify commercial and custom fire truck chassis to prepare them for fire apparatus installation.
  • Install mechanical components, brackets, mounts, pumps, driveline components, and other equipment according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform chassis alterations, drilling, cutting, grinding, and component installation.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, impacts, drills, and other shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Measure accurately using tape measures, rulers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Understand how mechanical systems and components fit and function together during assembly.
  • Assist with fabrication and fitting of steel components as needed.
  • Work closely with welders, electricians, pump technicians, and other production team members to complete high-quality fire apparatus.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.

Qualifications:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how mechanical assemblies function.
  • Comfortable using common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.
  • Basic understanding of PTO-driven systems and truck drivetrain components is preferred.
  • Ability to follow drawings, instructions, and assembly procedures.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to stay focused, work efficiently, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift materials and perform physical work throughout the day.

Preferred Experience:
Candidates with experience in any of the following are especially encouraged to apply:

  • Welding or carbon steel fabrication experience.
  • Experience modifying truck chassis, trailers, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or industrial machinery.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, or driveline systems.

Benefits:

  • Long-term and Short-term Disability, Specified Disease
