US Farathane is seeking a detail-oriented and people-focused HR Generalist at our Austin, TX facility to support human resources operations in our fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting core day-to-day HR functions within the plant, with a primary focus on processing payroll, supporting recruiting and onboarding activities, and administering employee leaves of absence. This role will also assist with employee relations, HR reporting, compliance, and general HR support for hourly and salaried employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting core day-to-day HR functions within the plant, with a primary focus on processing payroll, supporting recruiting and onboarding activities, and administering employee leaves of absence. This role will also assist with employee relations, HR reporting, compliance, and general HR support for hourly and salaried employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for hourly employees.
- Review employee timecards for accuracy, including attendance, overtime, shift premiums, and pay adjustments and partner with supervisors to resolve timekeeping discrepancies before payroll submission.
- Coordinate payroll changes including new hires, terminations, status changes, and wage adjustments.
- Maintain payroll and employee records and ensure compliance with company policies and wage and hour laws and ensure data accuracy within HRIS and payroll systems.
- Respond to employee HR questions related to pay, deductions, timekeeping, benefits, and general employee relations matters.
- Support compliance with employment laws, company policies, and HR procedures.
- Maintain accurate attendance records for hourly associates and prepare disciplinary write-ups as necessary.
- Prepare employee separation notices and related termination documentation.
- Respond to unemployment requests.
- Administer employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA, PTO, and other applicable leave programs.
- Communicate with employees regarding leave eligibility, required documentation, and return-to-work expectations.
- Track leave status, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely follow-up on certifications and approvals.
- Support full-cycle recruiting for hourly positions within the plant including posting open positions, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communications.
- Assist with pre-employment processes including background checks, drug screens, and new hire paperwork.
- Assist HR Manager with completing HR metrics, reporting, and audits.
- Active involvement in processing benefits qualifying life events, new hire benefit enrollment, and annual open enrollment. Assisting with employee benefit inquiries.
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support employee recognition programs, employee events, and communication efforts to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Act as a visible and approachable HR presence on the plant floor to build trust and strengthen relationships.
- Collaborate with EHS to promote a safe and compliant work environment.
- Ability to respond to off-shift or urgent employee matters as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, and/or equivalent professional experience.
- 2–5 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or automotive environment.
- Experience with payroll processing, recruiting, and leave administration required.
- Experience supporting high-volume, hourly workforce populations.
- Knowledge of employment laws including FMLA, FLSA, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
