The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as manager, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over supervisory and nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Mass Spectrometry Flight.Qualifications:

This is a GG-14 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-14 duties for the "Supervision/Management" work category are at the "Senior" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-14 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions for series 1301/1320.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
General Physical Science Series, 1301
Basic Requirements:
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Chemistry Series, 1320
Basic Requirements:
Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

NOTE: IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE APPLICANT MUST ALSO MEET THE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: expert grasp of mass spectrometry measurement systems and their associated instrumentation. A deep knowledge of all analytical measurement systems, including all variants of mass spectrometry and radiometric techniques, is essential. Must possess an intricate understanding of radioisotope decay schemes, combined with the skill to apply nuclear constants in the calibration of measurement devices, ensuring the organization's ability to benchmark against established standards. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or expensive gained in another government agency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Comprehensive understanding of diverse mass spectrometry measurement systems, instrumentation, and methodologies.
2. Comprehensive understanding of measurement principles, radiochemistry techniques, and related procedures specially tailored for detection of low-level nuclear activity.
3. Knowledge of radiochemistry laboratory safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
5. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
6. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS

• Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
• Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
• The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
• Employee may be required to undergo CI polygraph examinations in accordance with security regulations involving material handled.
• May be required to work irregular duty hours, weekends, or holidays.

Education:POSITIVE EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: This position has a positive education requirement. This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.
