Position Summary
The Patient Care Navigator – Clinical Support serves as a key member of the Care Team at the Urology Center of Iowa (UCI), working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff to ensure patients receive timely, safe, and compassionate care. This role supports patients by coordinating medication therapies, assisting with prior authorizations and financial resources, managing in-office medication inventory, and providing education on prescribed treatments. The Navigator fosters continuity of care by combining clinical expertise with patient advocacy, ensuring every patient feels supported throughout their treatment journey.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Dispense and coordinate in-office medications, catheters, and urologic supplies.
- Support patients undergoing oncolytic and specialty treatments, ensuring adherence and appropriate monitoring.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding medication regimens, side effects, and care instructions.
- Assist patients with insurance navigation, prior authorizations, and financial assistance resources.
- Serve as a point of contact for patient questions, providing timely communication and problem resolution.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the medical record in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
- Manage inventory for in-office dispensary and high-cost medications, including ordering, receiving, storage, reconciliation, and expiration tracking.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and pharmaceutical representatives to optimize patient access to therapies and programs.
- Ensure compliance with infection-control, OSHA, and state/federal regulations related to medication handling and clinical practice.
- Prepare and summarize reports regarding medication use, patient support activities, and care coordination outcomes.
- Provide cross-coverage in other clinical areas as trained and needed.
- Contribute to a positive, team-based environment that prioritizes patient safety and satisfaction.
