Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Certified Professional Coder to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will ensure accurate medical coding and billing processes, supporting efficient revenue cycle management. Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes for diagnoses and procedures in accordance with medical coding guidelines
- Utilize CPT and HCPCS coding systems for outpatient and inpatient services
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems for billing, coding, and medical record abstraction
- Ensure compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations and other payer requirements
- Review medical records thoroughly to verify documentation accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with billing departments to facilitate timely claims submission and follow-up on unpaid or denied claims
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding guidelines to ensure precise coding practices
Skills
- Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems, and medical coding software
- Strong understanding of medical billing, collections, and revenue cycle management processes
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical record abstraction techniques
- Familiarity with CMS regulations and guidelines for inpatient services coding
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
