Job Description
Urgent care facility located in the Fairless Hills area is looking for Medical Assistants to help with our influx of patients during this upcoming flu season. The Medical Assistants will work closely with physicians and be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to patient care. This position will require you to be an active member in a patient centered-team approach. The Medical Assistant will also be required to work collaboratively with all team members in achieving shared goals with a consistent focus on quality care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. Smiles, making patients/visitors feel welcome and important; makes direct eye contact; assists patients with sign in process; responds promptly to patients’ needs, monitors flow in waiting areas and exam rooms, and makes patients and team members aware of delays.
- Performs medical assistant duties in a safe and efficient manner. Consistently, accurately and independently prioritizes and completes clinical assignments within office guidelines. Prepares patient for examination and treatment; takes brief patient history that includes chief complaint, vital signs, and weight; assists physician with procedures; draws blood and obtains urine specimens; administers injections as approved for CMAs; provides patient instructions per physician’s order; conducts authorized in-office tests.
- Completes all authorized patient chart documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for the preparation of the examination rooms.
- Accurately and promptly sets up examination rooms, materials and equipment.
- Proactively monitors required stock level per practice procedure and anticipates unique supply needs for patients/provider.
- Rooms are cleaned and sanitized per protocol
- Monitors general clinical supply inventory and equipment
REQUIREMENTS:
- Medical Assistant Certification or similar certification is preferred.
- Outpatient or hospital-based experience is required.
- One-year medical office/ambulatory care experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a medical assistant program or other relevant training program (i.e. EMT, phlebotomy) preferred.
- CPR certification.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and medications.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a team centered approach to patient care.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts and weekends as needed.
