UCS has also been recognized as one of Cleveland's City Champions by The Plain Dealer, a National Green Ribbon School for Environmental Practices and Learning Model, and a School of Excellence by the Cleveland Foundation and The George Gund Foundation.Role OverviewThe Speech-Language Pathologist provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for students with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders for students in Pre-K through 8th Grade. The SLP collaborates with faculty, staff, parents/caregivers, and administrators to ensure that students receive effective interventions and services that promote academic and social success.ResponsibilitiesConduct screenings, evaluations, and re-evaluations to determine speech and language needs.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapy goals based on evaluation results.Provide direct and consultative speech and language therapy services to students individually or in small groups.Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress notes, and reports in compliance with federal, state, and school guidelines.Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and other professionals to support student learning and communication across settings.Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of goals and accommodations.Educate families and caregivers about strategies to support communication development at home.Stay current on best practices, research, and professional development in speech-language pathology.Skills and Competencies Excels at building relationships with various stakeholders including students, families/caregivers, and educators.Skilled in active listening, empathy, and building rapport with children and families.Strong analytical skills to develop accurate diagnoses and individualized treatment plans.Excellent time management skills Exhibits excellent attention to detail with strong organizational abilitiesSound judgment and decision making skills Education and Experience Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.Experience working with school-aged children (preschool through grade 8 preferred).Physical Requirements and Work Environment Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to walk significant distances and climb stairs throughout the day as the campus is situated on several acres with 2 buildings, ranging from single story to two stories, along with 5 campus partner facilities FBI/BCI background check required Compensation and BenefitsHourly rate commensurate with experience ($35-$40 per hour)401(k) with a generous employer contribution and match Casual work attire (denim and UCS spirit wear are welcomed)On-site fitness center for faculty and staffFinancial and retirement advising at no cost to employees Opportunities for discounts on home, rental and auto-insuranceAdditional InformationStatus: Part-Time; Non-Exempt Reports to: Chief Academic OfficerHours & Schedule: 10 hours per week/school scheduleUrban Community School is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
