Position Summary
The Residential Direct Support Professional provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities living in a residential home. This role focuses on ensuring each individual's health, safety, comfort, and quality of life while promoting independence and respecting personal choice.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide active supervision and support to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of residents
- Assist with personal care and daily living activities as needed
- Administer and document medications in accordance with agency policies and prescribed protocols
- Complete daily documentation and maintain accurate records
- Support individuals with daily routines, recreation, and meaningful activities within the home
- Assist with meal planning, preparation, and healthy nutrition practices
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment
- Transport and support individuals at medical appointments as needed
- Respond appropriately to behavioral or crisis situations using approved techniques and procedures
- Follow all agency policies, procedures, and state regulations
- Promote dignity, choice, independence, and respect in all interactions
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required
- Willingness to learn and participate in training programs
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass required background checks
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
