Job Title: MRI Tech
Unit: Medical Imaging
Shift: Full Time=Days
Facility: Upper Valley Medical Center
General Summary/Responsibilities: Independently performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the MRI scanner including MRI safe practices. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of his/her duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities.

- Type of degree: Allied Health
- Area of study or major: Medical Imaging Sciences to include additional MRI physics
- Preferred educational qualifications: Associate degree, graduate of an accredited program
- Position specific testing requirement: N/A
- CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire
- MRI registry preferred
- ODH licensure preferred
- ARRT RT (R) registry or ARMRIT registry required

Performance for Management Staff.
Essential Duties & Functions:
1. Performs MRI procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring
physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established
protocols and evaluates MRI studies for technical image quality.
2. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the MRI procedure.
3. Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed
MRI safety standards. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.
4. Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy.
Practices sterile techniques.
5. Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical
treatment during emergency situations.
6. Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time
and satisfaction
7. Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding
procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about
exam.
8. Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required,
performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is
received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
9. Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency
equipment in the unit.
